Our Response to Monday's Incident @ The M.E.N. Arena 22.05.2017
This week’s incident at Manchester Arena has touched us all and and has reached right into our home and work communities here in Whalley Range, Chorlton, Fallowfield and Moss Side. It will have affected some of us even more personally. At this time when it is natural to feel strong emotions including anxiety and worry, it can be comforting to see immense positive support and unity being demonstrated. We are lucky to have such strong community spirit in Manchester and right here in Whalley Range.
The practice is open as usual and please come for support if needed.
There are also many other sources of support such as:
Mental Health Wellbeing advice
How to talk to your children about the event: a guide from the Children’s Hospital, CBBC Newsround, Social Work Tutor and NSPCC
The Sanctuary – a 24 hour crisis line and a local place of safety and support through the night based at Kath Locke Centre.
Local places for gathering with others: the British Muslim Heritage Centre, temples, mosques, churches and all places of worship and meditation such as the Chorlton Meditation Centre and I am sure that doors will be open to everybody to come together from different religious communities.
You can also find other group community events of all sorts at Meetup.com – a worldwide community resource set up to bring people together after 9/11.
Sister Jane Walton
The practice is sad to report that Sister Jane Walton passed away on Saturday 18th March 2017.
As a lot of our patients are aware, Sister Jane had been with the practice since Setpember 1988 as our practice nurse and latterly, Jane ran our travel clinic.
Jane will be greatly missed at the practice and our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this sad time.
